Counseling for Youth, Adults & Couples In-Office sessions • Equine-Assisted sessions
Horses have the potential to influence people in powerful ways – assisting in emotional growth and learning. Participants learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with the horses:
• Non-verbal Communication
• Creative Thinking
• Problem Solving
• Appropriate Boundaries
Working alongside a horse creates confidence, provides insight into relationships as well as our own behaviors, and offers new skills when dealing with other intimidating and challenging situations in life. Through this interactive therapy, participants learn to overcome various mental health issues:
• Anxiety / Panic
• Eating Disorders
• Behavioral Issues
• Relationship Problems
What if you don’t know anything about horses?
No problem. The focus is not on horse knowledge or know-how. This is an experiential therapy where we use horses to facilitate real and lasting change. The process begins by interacting with the horses, then identifying and reflecting with the staff on what transpired. Participants learn and practice new strategies to achieve goals both inside, then outside, the arena.
Do we ride the horses?
We will be interacting with the horses but not riding them. This is a “feet on the ground” therapy. A typical session includes ground activities where horses provide opportunities for problem solving, personal growth and learning.
